Engagement & pre-shoot
A few unhurried hours together, long before anyone is watching.
A pre-shoot is the easiest day of the whole wedding. No schedule, no guests, nobody waiting on you — just the two of you somewhere good for a couple of hours. Collections start at LKR 48,000, and a pre-shoot is already included in every wedding collection. I'm Yehen Fernando, based in Kandy and shooting across Sri Lanka.
Why it is worth doing
Most couples have never been photographed properly together. A pre-shoot fixes that before the day that matters — you learn what you look like, I learn how you are with each other, and on the wedding day none of it is new.
It is also where the invitation photograph, the thank-you cards and the first spread of the album usually come from.

Engagement collections start at LKR 48,000 for Essentials, LKR 85,000 for Signature and LKR 120,000 for Cinematic. If you are booking a wedding collection, a pre-shoot is already included in all three. On its own, a pre-shoot is LKR 45,000.
In practice, timing. An engagement shoot usually happens soon after the proposal; a pre-shoot is closer to the wedding and is often used for the invitations, the thank-you cards and the album opening spread. The way I shoot them is the same.
Anywhere from two hours to a full day depending on the collection. Two hours covers one location comfortably. A full day lets us move between two or three and change outfits without rushing.
Something you can walk, sit and laugh in. Avoid stiff new clothes you are still getting used to — it shows. If you are planning an outfit change, bring the simpler one first and the dramatic one for the last light.
The hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset, almost always. Midday is only worth it in deep shade, like the rain tree avenue at the Peradeniya gardens.
