Wedding Photography in Kandy

Full days, told honestly. Nothing staged, nothing rearranged for the camera.

I'm Yehen Fernando, a wedding photographer based in Kandy, Sri Lanka, and I photograph full wedding days across the island — Kandyan ceremonies, church weddings, homecomings and everything in between. Collections start at LKR 125,000 and run to LKR 355,000 for three days of coverage. Previews reach you in 48 hours, the full gallery in three weeks. Travel within Kandy and Kurunegala is included.

The day

What I photograph

From the quiet of the morning to the last of the dancing.

The morning

The house before anyone is ready. Your mother fixing something that does not need fixing. The dress on the back of the door.

The ceremony

The poruwa, the lamp, the moment the two of you stop noticing the hundred people watching. I photograph it from the edge, never from in front.

The long afternoon

Lunch that runs late, the uncle with the stories, children asleep under a table. The parts nobody plans and everybody remembers.

The night

The dancing, while it is still loud. I stay until it is genuinely over, not until a clock says so.

Kandyan weddings

The ceremony, as it happened

Eight years of poruwa ceremonies means I know the order of things — when the lamp is lit, when the nalalpata goes on, where the nilame will stand, which three seconds actually matter. You will not find me asking anyone to do it again for the camera.

Church & hotel weddings

Quiet in the room

I work in available light wherever I can, and I stay out of the aisle. If your church has rules about where a photographer may stand, tell me and I will work within them — the photographs will be better for it anyway.

Questions

Before you ask

How much is a wedding photographer in Kandy?

Collections start at LKR 125,000 for Essentials, LKR 195,000 for Signature — the one most couples book — and LKR 355,000 for Cinematic, which covers three days including the homecoming. A wedding day on its own is LKR 105,000.

How long do you stay on the wedding day?

Every collection covers the full day. I usually arrive while you are still getting ready and stay through the dancing. There is no hour limit to watch, and no overtime charge waiting at the end of the night.

Do you photograph the poruwa ceremony?

Yes. The poruwa, the jayamangala gatha, the oil lamp, the nalalpata — I have photographed Kandyan ceremonies for eight years and I know where to stand so I am never in the way of the family or the nilame.

When do we get the photographs?

Previews of about 30 images reach you within 48 hours, so you have something to share while people are still talking about the day. The full edited gallery follows within three weeks.

Do you shoot video too?

No — stills only, so I can stay fully present through the day rather than splitting my attention. I am happy to recommend a videographer whose style sits well with mine.
