Locations — Ella
Ella is tea country at its most theatrical: steep green, mist that burns off while you watch, and a view off the end of Little Adam’s Peak that makes people go quiet.

I'm Yehen Fernando, a wedding and couple photographer based in Kandy. I shoot couple sessions, surprise proposals and pre-shoots in Ella and across Sri Lanka. Traveller sessions start at USD 180; wedding collections at LKR 125,000. Travel to Ella: Quoted — Ella is beyond the 150 km band from Kandy.
Where to shoot

First light
Rows that run away from you in every direction. Ask before walking into a working estate; the pluckers are at work and it is their day too.
Early morning
Beautiful and completely overrun. Worth it only very early, and even then you are sharing it.
Before 7am
A real hike — two hours up. Only if you both actually want to, and never in wedding clothes.
Sunrise, for the committed

Ella
Realistically a night there. The light that makes Ella worth photographing is the first hour of the day, and that is not reachable from Kandy on the morning.
The famous spots are, yes. The tea roads five minutes away are not, and that is usually where we end up.
