We plan it in secret. I blend in as a traveller with a camera, and catch the moment she realises.
I'm Yehen Fernando, and photographing surprise proposals is my favourite part of this job. I work across Sri Lanka — Pidurangala at sunrise, Little Adam's Peak near Ella, the Galle Fort ramparts, the viewpoints above Kandy. Coverage starts at USD 290 and includes a planning call, spot scouting, hidden coverage of the proposal itself and the portraits afterwards. We plan the whole thing by message, and nothing is posted anywhere until you both say yes.
How it works
With roughly when you will be here and where you are staying. Nothing is booked yet.
I suggest a spot and a time, send a photo of exactly where to stand, and we agree a signal. Weeks of messages if that is what it takes.
Early, and I blend in — another traveller with a camera. You walk up. I am already photographing before you turn around.
Once she has said yes and stopped shaking, we photograph the two of you properly. Nothing is posted until you both agree.
Afterwards
Everyone thinks about the kneeling. What they forget is the twenty minutes afterwards, when neither of you can stop laughing and she keeps looking at her hand. That is usually where the photographs you end up printing come from.

Pidurangala at sunrise, with Sigiriya rock across the plain, is the one most people choose and it deserves the reputation. Little Adam’s Peak near Ella in the first light, the Galle Fort ramparts at dusk, and the viewpoints above Kandy all work beautifully.
We agree a backup time or spot in advance, before you even arrive. One free reschedule within your stay is included and your deposit carries over in full.
I give you a minute — you will need it. Then I come over, introduce myself properly, and we take a proper walk together while she is still shaking. Those photographs are often the best of the morning.
